Religious Instruction

Queensland state schools provide religious instruction in accordance with Chapter 5 of the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006 (EGPA) and Part 5 of the Education (General Provisions) Regulations 2006 (EGPR) by making available up to one hour per week for the provision of religious instruction to students (except Prep students) who are members of a faith group that has approval to deliver religious instruction at the school.

At Mansfield Primary School, each class (Year 1 to Year 6) has access to a half hour period of instruction per week. All students (except Prep students) are placed in either religious instruction or other instruction in accordance with information provided on their Application for Student enrolment, unless parents/guardians have provided the school with other written instructions.

In 2017, Mansfield State School will offer religious instruction for the following religions:

-       An ecumenical programs based on material from the Religious Education Curriculum project, using the Connect program
-       Buddhist
-       Islamic

Students who are not involved in one of the programs listed will be provided with ‘Other Instruction’ in a separate location to the religious instruction delivery. ‘Other Instruction’ may include activities that are part of a subject area that has already be covered in a student’s class, for example: homework tasks; personal research and/or assignments; revision of class work and wider reading; or other activities.

Any parents or carers wishing to obtain more detailed information about the religious or other instruction, should see the Administration office.
